I Want You for U.S. Army is a 1917 recruiting poster illustrated by James Montgomery Flagg for the United States Army, depicting a stern personification of Uncle Sam in a top hat pointing directly at the viewer above the caption naming the poster. Flagg based Uncle Sam's face partly on his own and adapted the pointing composition from a similar 1914 British recruiting poster featuring Lord Kitchener. More than four million copies were printed during the First World War, and the image was revived for the Second World War, making it one of the most reproduced and recognizable pieces of American graphic design of the twentieth century.
