Guerrillero Heroico is a photograph of the Argentine revolutionary Che Guevara taken by Cuban photographer Alberto Korda on March 5, 1960, at a memorial rally in Havana for victims of the La Coubre explosion. Korda captured the image in a matter of seconds, shooting only two frames from about twenty five to thirty feet away, and later described Guevara's expression as conveying absolute implacability along with anger and pain. Reproduced on posters, flags, clothing and countless other objects in the decades since, it is widely regarded as one of the most reproduced photographs in history. The same photograph is separately recorded on the arts atlas as a landmark of fine-art photography; this entry records its significance as a broadcast and photojournalism landmark of media history.
