American educator, the most commonly credited original creator of The Oregon Trail, a text-based educational computer game he wrote in 1971 with fellow student teachers Bill Heinemann and Paul Dillenberger for a Minnesota classroom. The game was later revised and widely distributed by the Minnesota Educational Computing Consortium, becoming one of the best known educational video games ever made.
