Atlantic City

Atlantic City is a 1980 romantic crime drama directed by Louis Malle from a screenplay by John Guare, a France and Canada co-production shot on location in Atlantic City. Burt Lancaster plays Lou, an aging small time gangster, and Susan Sarandon plays Sally, a casino waitress training to become a blackjack dealer. When Sally's estranged husband arrives with cocaine stolen from organized crime figures, Lou tries to sell it to impress her, and the two are drawn into violence and flight. The film won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival, tied with Gloria, and was nominated for the five top Academy Awards without winning any; it was added to the United States National Film Registry in 2003.
