Crossfire is a 1947 American film directed by Edward Dmytryk, starring Robert Young, Robert Mitchum and Robert Ryan. A murder investigation among recently demobilized soldiers in Washington D.C. uncovers antisemitism as the likely motive when a Jewish veteran is killed, as detectives work to identify the culprit among the suspects. The film won the prize for best social film at the 1947 Cannes Film Festival and was nominated for five Academy Awards including best picture, notably as the first B movie to receive a best picture nomination.
