Streaming and Podcasting Technology

The internet-era delivery technology that carries audio and video to a device on demand rather than on a broadcast schedule. Belongs here: adaptive bitrate streaming, the content delivery network as streaming infrastructure, and the RSS enclosure, the technical mechanism that made podcast distribution possible. Does not belong here: the broadcast infrastructure it replaced, grouped under broadcast technology, or the platforms and companies that use this technology, which belong to the organization type.
