German Expressionist and Weimar Silent Films

German silent films of the 1910s and 1920s, the Weimar period, known for Expressionist sets, stylised light and shadow and tales of horror, fantasy and social unease, from The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari and Nosferatu to Metropolis, Faust and Pandora's Box. A work belongs here when its article calls it a German silent film. Works are placed by what their cited article states about their country, form and period, and each work sits in exactly one group of this subcategory, so a film that fits two traditions goes where its article places it first.
