Robin Hood is a 1922 American silent film starring Douglas Fairbanks as the legendary English outlaw, directed by Allan Dwan and built around what was, at the time of its release, one of the largest and most expensive sets ever constructed for an American film, a full-scale medieval castle. Fairbanks, already established as a star of athletic costume adventure pictures, used the production's scale and his own stunt work to help define the swashbuckler genre alongside his earlier film The Mark of Zorro. It was among the most commercially successful films of the silent era and remains one of the best remembered screen versions of the Robin Hood legend.
