Alison Peebles, born in 1953, is a Scottish actress, director and writer who has worked across theatre, film and television. She built her acting career on the Scottish stage and in British television before extending her work to directing, bringing an actor's grounding in character to the films and productions she has since made. Her career reflects a pattern common among Scottish theatre performers of her generation who moved into directing mid-career while continuing to act, giving her work across all three mediums a shared sensibility.
