Fresh Air is an American radio interview program that began locally in Philadelphia in 1975 and expanded to national distribution through NPR in 1987, built around long-form conversations with guests drawn from entertainment, literature, journalism and public affairs. The program has been hosted for nearly its entire run by Terry Gross, whose sustained, research-driven interviewing style became closely identified with the show and helped make it one of public radio's signature programs. Fresh Air has won multiple Peabody Awards and was inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame, and by the mid-2010s it had also become one of the most downloaded podcasts distributed in the United States.
