Beyond Our Ken is a BBC radio comedy series starring Kenneth Horne as host, broadcast from 1958 to 1964, built around a repertory cast performing a rotating set of sketch characters and running parodies each week, with contributions from writers including Eric Merriman and, later, Barry Took and Marty Feldman. Known for a knowing, innuendo laced style of humor delivered within the bounds of BBC broadcasting standards of the time, it built the cast and comic sensibility that its makers carried directly into its far better remembered successor series, Round the Horne, after Beyond Our Ken ended.
