Letter from America is a weekly BBC radio program hosted by journalist Alistair Cooke, who presented every episode himself from its first broadcast on March 24, 1946 until his final program on February 20, 2004, shortly before his death, spanning 2,869 broadcasts. Each fifteen minute episode offered Cooke's own observations on topical American life and events, typically weaving together personal anecdote and reporting before closing on a humorous or reflective note. Carried on the BBC Home Service, later BBC Radio 4, and the BBC World Service, it is recognized as the longest-running speech radio program hosted by a single individual.
