Suspense

Suspense is an American radio drama anthology series broadcast on CBS Radio, debuting with an audition episode in 1940 before beginning its regular weekly run in 1942 and continuing for roughly 945 additional episodes across two decades. Each episode presented a self-contained thriller or suspense story, frequently featuring major Hollywood film stars in leading roles, a casting practice that helped the series draw a wide audience during radio's peak popularity. Suspense earned a Peabody Award Special Citation of Honor in 1946 and was later inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame, and its final 1962 broadcast, alongside that of the similarly long-running Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar, is often cited by broadcast historians as marking the symbolic end of the Golden Age of American radio drama.
