Lux Radio Theatre

Lux Radio Theatre is an American radio anthology series, sponsored by Lux soap, that ran from 1934 to 1955, adapting popular Hollywood films into hour-long radio dramas, frequently reuniting the film's original stars to perform their roles for the broadcast. Hosted for much of its run by director Cecil B. DeMille, the series became one of the most prestigious and highly rated dramatic programs on American radio, and its close ties to the film studios helped establish radio adaptation as a standard promotional and creative practice for major releases.
