Fibber McGee and Molly is an American radio sitcom created by Don Quinn and Jim Jordan that began broadcasting on NBC in 1935, starring Jim and Marian Jordan as a good-natured but chronically exaggerating husband and his more level-headed wife in the fictional town of Wistful Vista. The program became one of the most popular series in American radio, and its recurring gag of a hall closet crammed with junk that comically avalanches open whenever Fibber opens it became one of the best-known running sound-effects jokes in American broadcasting. Fibber McGee and Molly remained a top-rated program through the 1930s and 1940s and is regarded as one of the defining situation comedies of American radio's golden age.
