Let's Pretend

Radio Drama and Broadcast Landmarks

Let's Pretend is an American children's radio program broadcast on CBS, developed from an earlier program called The Adventures of Helen and Mary and renamed Let's Pretend in 1934, running under that title until 1954. Each episode dramatized a fairy tale or folk tale for a live studio audience of children, using a regular company of young performers alongside adult actors in supporting roles. The program won a Peabody Award in 1944 and is remembered as one of the longest running and most fondly recalled children's dramatic series of American radio's network era.
