Boston Blackie

Boston Blackie is an American radio detective drama series broadcast from 1944 to 1950, based on a reformed jewel thief and safecracker character created decades earlier by writer Jack Boyle and already popularized in a series of Hollywood films. The radio version followed Blackie using his own criminal expertise to solve crimes and clear himself of the suspicion that a checkered past continually drew from the police, in a lighter, more comic tone than many contemporary radio detective dramas. It is remembered by radio historians as a popular example of the reformed criminal detective figure adapted from film into network radio's own detective drama boom.
