Truth or Consequences (radio program)

Truth or Consequences is an American game show created by Ralph Edwards, first broadcast on NBC Radio on March 23, 1940, drawing its format from a childhood parlor game called Forfeits. Contestants who failed to answer a trivia question correctly, or in time, were made to perform an embarrassing stunt as their consequences, a mix of quiz and physical comedy that distinguished it from other quiz programs of the era. The format proved durable enough to move from radio into television, running across CBS, NBC and syndication from the 1950s into the late 1980s.
