Journey Into Space is a BBC radio science fiction serial created and written by Charles Chilton, first broadcast beginning in 1953, following the crew of the British spacecraft Luna and its successors on a series of missions including a landing on the Moon and journeys to Mars. At the peak of its popularity in the mid 1950s it drew an evening radio audience larger than any competing television broadcast, an achievement often cited as the last time British radio drama outdrew television head to head, and it remains one of the BBC's best remembered science fiction productions of the pre-television-dominant era.
