Media Convergence

Media Industry

The merging of previously distinct media technologies, industries and audiences into shared platforms, most influentially theorized by Henry Jenkins as the flow of content across multiple platforms, the cooperation of media industries and the migratory behavior of audiences chasing the entertainment they want wherever it appears. Streaming services that combine what were once separate film, television and social distribution channels are a working example.
