Don Quinn

Don Quinn (November 18 1900 to December 30 1967) was an American comedy writer and cartoonist from Grand Rapids, Michigan. He began his career as a cartoonist in Chicago before finding his talent lay in writing captions rather than drawing. He became the sole writer, later head writer alongside Phil Leslie, of the long running radio comedy Fibber McGee and Molly for seventeen years, working with its stars Jim and Marian Jordan for two decades and creating the recurring character Throckmorton P. Gildersleeve. Quinn also created and wrote other radio and television series, including The Beulah Show, a Fibber McGee spinoff built around the McGees' maid character, and The Halls of Ivy, a comedy about a college president and his wife. He later moved into television, contributing to programs including The Addams Family and Petticoat Junction. He died in Los Angeles at age 67 and is buried in Hollywood Forever Cemetery.
