The Fog of War

The Fog of War is a 2003 American documentary directed by Errol Morris, built around an extended interview with former United States Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara reflecting on his roles in the Second World War, the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Vietnam War, organized around eleven lessons McNamara drew from his career. Morris filmed the interview using his Interrotron device, which allows a subject to look directly into the camera lens while appearing to address the interviewer, producing an unusually direct sense of address to the audience. The Fog of War won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature and is widely regarded as one of the most significant documentary portraits of a major twentieth century policymaker.
