Wii Sports is a 2006 sports video game developed and published by Nintendo for the Wii console, bundling five simplified sports simulations, tennis, baseball, bowling, golf and boxing, controlled through the motion-sensing Wii Remote rather than traditional buttons. Packaged with the console in most markets outside Japan and Korea, the game was designed specifically to demonstrate motion control to buyers who had never played video games before. Wii Sports sold more than eighty million copies, becoming one of the best-selling video games ever made, and it is widely credited with drawing large numbers of casual, older and non-gaming players into video games for the first time.
