The War Room is a 1993 American documentary directed by D.A. Pennebaker and Chris Hegedus, following Bill Clinton's 1992 presidential campaign from inside its Little Rock headquarters through the eyes of campaign strategists James Carville and George Stephanopoulos. Shot in the observational cinema verite style Pennebaker had developed since the 1960s, the film was praised for its access to the daily improvisation, tension and strategy sessions of a modern American political campaign rather than its public events. It was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature and is frequently cited as a landmark of behind the scenes political campaign filmmaking.
