This group collects the World and International Narrative Cinema subcategory's members whose primary country of origin is Japan, China, Hong Kong, South Korea, Taiwan, North Korea or Mongolia, read from the member's own recorded Country fact or its description text. It spans the postwar Japanese masters, the Fifth and Sixth Generation Chinese directors, the Hong Kong New Wave, the Korean New Wave and Taiwanese art cinema, kept apart from this subcategory's Southeast Asian Cinema group by continental convention rather than any claim that the two traditions are unrelated.
