Clash of Clans is a 2012 free to play mobile strategy game developed and published by Supercell, in which players build villages, train armies and raid other players' bases while cooperating with up to fifty other players in a clan. It became one of the most commercially successful mobile games ever made, earning more than 6.4 billion dollars in revenue by 2018, and helped prove that free to play strategy games built around clan cooperation could sustain a business on smartphones. Its success spawned spin offs including Clash Royale and an animated series.
