In a Heartbeat is a 2017 American animated short film made by Esteban Bravo and Beth David as a senior thesis project at Ringling College of Art and Design. Running about four minutes, it follows a closeted boy named Sherwin whose heart literally leaps out of his chest and chases the boy he has a crush on around their school. Funded through a Kickstarter campaign that far exceeded its goal, the film became a viral hit with roughly fifty one million YouTube views, was shortlisted for the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film, and won a Student Academy Award and a GLAAD Media Award for Special Recognition.
