Han Solo: A Smuggler's Trade is a 2016 Star Wars fan film directed by Keith Allen, with Jamie Costa starring as a young Han Solo. The fourteen minute production was funded through an Indiegogo campaign that raised more than 21,795 dollars from 408 backers and was released free on YouTube in December 2016, where it has drawn more than 2.8 million views. The story follows Han Solo attempting to free Chewbacca from captivity by convincing his captors he can wield a lightsaber, a deception carried out with a hidden magnetic wristband rather than any real Force power. Critics singled out Costa's performance as capturing the young Han Solo convincingly, and the film became one of the best known Star Wars fan productions of its era.
