Splatoon

Splatoon is a 2015 third person shooter developed by Nintendo EAD and published by Nintendo for the Wii U, in which players control Inklings, characters who switch between humanoid and squid forms, in team matches fought over covering the arena floor in their team's ink. Rather than rewarding eliminations, the game measures victory by territory covered, a design that set it apart from the realistic military shooters that dominated the genre at the time. Its bright, stylized aesthetic and accessible controls launched a franchise that has sold more than 30 million copies across its sequels.
