Nuggets (film)

Nuggets is a 2014 German animated short film directed by Andreas Hykade with funding from the Federal Film Board, released October 13, 2014 on YouTube. Rendered in minimalist black strokes on a white background, it follows a kiwi bird that discovers golden nuggets and experiences euphoric flight after eating each one, with the effect fading and the bird's weight and the background's darkness both growing until it contemplates one final nugget. Widely read as a complete allegory for addiction, the film went viral and had drawn more than thirty-five million YouTube views by 2026, and won First Prize at the 2015 Krok International Animated Film Festival.
