Valorant is a 2020 free to play tactical hero shooter developed and published by Riot Games, combining the round based, gunplay focused structure of Counter-Strike with character abilities in the style of Overwatch. It launched on Windows in June 2020 and reached PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S in 2024. Its closed beta drew one of the largest concurrent Twitch audiences ever recorded to that point, and the game was built around low system requirements and high tick rate servers meant to make competitive tactical shooting more accessible, later winning Best Esports Game at the Game Awards in both 2022 and 2023.
