The Dark Resurgence: A Star Wars Story is a 2018 Star Wars fan film written and directed by Michael McCumber. The thirteen minute short was shot at Mount Laguna in San Diego County and follows a Sith Lord who emerges during the fall of the Galactic Empire, with a small cast including Daniel Sosa Porter, Christopher Szabo, Kayla Sweet, Gerren Hall and Erik Cram. It premiered at the University of California, San Diego on April 10, 2018, before its release on YouTube the following month, and went on to screen at the GI Film Festival San Diego and win Best Fan Film at the 2018 Austin Indie Fest, with reviewers praising its fight choreography.
