Team Fortress 2

Interactive and Networked Media Landmarks

Team Fortress 2 is a 2007 multiplayer first person shooter developed and published by Valve Corporation, in which two teams choose from nine character classes to complete objective based game modes. Its cartoonish visual style, drawn from early twentieth century commercial illustration, set it apart from the more realistic military shooters common at the time, and it is widely regarded as a forerunner of the modern hero shooter genre. Its 2011 move to a free to play model, supported by a marketplace of community made cosmetic items, proved commercially successful and the game has continued to receive updates for close to two decades.
