PUBG: Battlegrounds

PUBG: Battlegrounds, originally released in 2017 as PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, is a multiplayer battle royale video game developed by PUBG Studios, built from a design that Brendan Greene, known online as PlayerUnknown, had first created as a mod for earlier military simulation games. Up to 100 players parachute onto a large island with no equipment, then scavenge weapons and supplies while a shrinking safe zone forces survivors into closer contact until only one player or team remains. Its commercial success established battle royale as a mainstream video game genre and directly influenced the design of later mass-market battle royale games, including Fortnite's own battle royale mode, released later the same year.
