The Heiress Lethal, also known as The Fatal Heir, is a 2010 American noir comedy short film directed by Michael Brueggemeyer and written by Marianne Bates, shot in black and white in ten minutes. Veronica Baker stands accused of murdering her husband to collect his company's fortune, and investigator Johnny Love must determine whether she is telling the truth, in a story that plays film noir conventions for comedy including a character with a flatulence problem. Written, shot and edited within forty-eight hours for the 48 Hour Film Project at Ocean Beach's Old Townhouse Restaurant in San Diego, it won Best Film at 48 Hour Film Project San Diego, screened at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival after qualifying through Filmapalooza, and earned a 2016 Pacific Southwest Emmy nomination.
