Deviant is a 2018 American drama short film directed by Benjamin Howard, running ten minutes on a budget of 6,500 dollars and starring Rudy Pankow, later known for Outer Banks. Set in the 1960s, it follows a sexually conflicted teenager who escapes the abuse of electrotherapeutic conversion therapy to find hope and acceptance. Distributed online by Omeleto from April 20, 2020, the film won a Student Emmy Award in 2019 from the Pacific Southwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, screened at festivals including Outfest, HollyShorts, and the Nashville Film Festival, and gathered more than twenty awards and nominations along with over 250,000 views after its online release.
