The Grand Budapest Hotel

The Grand Budapest Hotel is a 2014 comedy-drama film written and directed by Wes Anderson, developed with collaborator Hugo Guinness as a fragmented narrative inspired by the works of Austrian novelist Stefan Zweig. Led by Ralph Fiennes as hotel concierge Monsieur Gustave H., the story follows Gustave and his protege Zero as they become entangled in a murder mystery over a wealthy dowager's death and a priceless Renaissance painting, and are drawn into an adventure to clear Gustave's name while an authoritarian regime encroaches on the fictional country of Zubrowka. Produced by American Empirical Pictures, Studio Babelsberg, Fox Searchlight Pictures and Indian Paintbrush and filmed in eastern Germany, the film premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival in February 2014, grossed 174.6 million dollars worldwide to become Anderson's highest-grossing film, and won four of its nine Academy Award nominations.
