Spotlight

Spotlight is a 2015 American biographical drama directed by Tom McCarthy, who wrote the screenplay with Josh Singer, dramatizing the Boston Globe's Spotlight investigative team and its reporting on decades of child sexual abuse covered up within the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston. The film draws on the series of stories that won the Globe the 2003 Pulitzer Prize for Public Service, and features an ensemble cast including Mark Ruffalo, Michael Keaton and Rachel McAdams. Released by Open Road Films, it won the Academy Award for Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay at the 88th ceremony from six nominations, becoming the first Best Picture winner since The Greatest Show on Earth in 1952 to win only one other Oscar.
