The Wrestler is a 2008 American film directed by Darren Aronofsky. Mickey Rourke plays an aging professional wrestler who, despite failing health and fading fame, keeps wrestling out of financial hardship and a wish to hold on to the success of his 1980s heyday, while also trying to reconcile with his estranged daughter and pursue a relationship with a strip club worker. The film won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival.
