Terminator 2: Judgment Day is a 1991 American science fiction action film directed by James Cameron, who co-wrote the screenplay with William Wisher, and is the sequel to Cameron's 1984 film The Terminator. It follows a reprogrammed Terminator, played by Arnold Schwarzenegger, sent back in time to protect a young John Connor from a more advanced liquid-metal Terminator, played by Robert Patrick, dispatched by the artificial intelligence Skynet to kill him. The film was a landmark in the use of computer-generated imagery, particularly the T-1000's shapeshifting and morphing effects, and it is widely regarded as one of the most influential and successful action films of its era.
