Terms of Endearment

Terms of Endearment is a 1983 American tragicomedy directed, written and produced by James L. Brooks, adapted from Larry McMurtry's 1975 novel of the same name. The ensemble cast, led by Shirley MacLaine and Debra Winger with Jack Nicholson, Danny DeVito and Jeff Daniels, follows thirty years in the relationship between a mother, Aurora Greenway, and her daughter, Emma. The film was the second highest grossing release of 1983 in the United States and won five Academy Awards at the 56th ceremony, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress for MacLaine and Best Supporting Actor for Nicholson.
