Field of Dreams

Field of Dreams is a 1989 American sports drama with elements of magical realism, written and directed by Phil Alden Robinson from W. P. Kinsella's novel Shoeless Joe. Kevin Costner stars as an Iowa farmer who builds a baseball diamond in his cornfield after hearing a mysterious voice, and finds it visited by the spirits of Shoeless Joe Jackson and other deceased ballplayers, with Amy Madigan, James Earl Jones and Burt Lancaster, in his final film role, also starring. Produced by the Gordon Company and distributed by Universal Pictures in the United States, the film grossed 84.5 million dollars against a budget of 15 million dollars, earned Academy Award nominations for Best Picture, Best Original Score and Best Adapted Screenplay, and was selected for the National Film Registry in 2017.
