Apocalypse Now is a 1979 American film directed by Francis Ford Coppola, loosely adapting Joseph Conrad's novella Heart of Darkness and transposing its journey upriver to the Vietnam War, following a special forces captain sent to find and assassinate a renegade colonel who has set himself up as a warlord deep in the jungle.
