Rosemary's Baby is a 1968 American psychological horror film directed by Roman Polanski, adapted from Ira Levin's 1967 novel of the same name. It follows Rosemary Woodhouse, played by Mia Farrow, a young Manhattan newlywed who becomes pregnant and grows increasingly suspicious that her elderly neighbors, played by Ruth Gordon and Sidney Blackmer, and her own husband, played by John Cassavetes, are involved in a satanic plot concerning her unborn child. The film is widely regarded as a landmark of the horror genre for building dread through ordinary domestic settings and ambiguity rather than overt violence, and Gordon's performance won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.
