My Fair Lady (film)

My Fair Lady is a 1964 American musical directed by George Cukor for Warner Bros., adapting the Lerner and Loewe stage musical in which a phonetics professor wagers he can transform a Cockney flower seller's speech enough to pass her off as a duchess at an embassy ball. The production, at the time the most expensive film shot in the United States, replaced Broadway's Julie Andrews with Audrey Hepburn in the lead role. It won eight Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Director and was the second highest-grossing film of 1964.
