The Greatest Show on Earth is a 1952 American drama film produced and directed by Cecil B. DeMille, centered on a railroad circus modeled on the real Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey Circus, its trapeze artists competing for top billing, and a mysterious clown hiding a secret past. The film won the Academy Award for Best Picture at the 1953 ceremony along with Best Story, DeMille's only competitive Oscar win.
