Godzilla, King of the Monsters!

Godzilla, King of the Monsters! is a 1956 American localization of the 1954 Japanese film Godzilla, directed by Terry O. Morse with the original Japanese footage credited to Ishiro Honda and special effects by Eiji Tsuburaya. Produced jointly by Toho and Jewell Enterprises, the re-edited version inserted new scenes starring Raymond Burr as an American reporter covering the monster's attack on Japan, alongside surviving Japanese cast members Takashi Shimura, Momoko Kochi and Akira Takarada. Acquired and reworked for American distribution by producer Edmund Goldman starting in 1955, it became the version through which most Western audiences first encountered Godzilla.
