Gigantis, the Fire Monster

Gigantis, the Fire Monster is the English language release version, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures on May 21, 1959, of Toho's 1955 Japanese film Godzilla Raids Again, the second entry in the Godzilla franchise. For the American release the monster Godzilla was renamed Gigantis to suggest a different creature, the English dialogue was described as a loose interpretation rather than an accurate translation, most of Masaru Sato's original score was replaced with stock library music, and stock footage from other productions including Unknown Island and One Million B.C. was worked into the film. It premiered as a double feature with Teenagers from Outer Space and then disappeared from American theaters and television for two decades until Toho regained the rights in the mid 1980s.
