Going My Way is a 1944 American comedy-drama directed by Leo McCarey for Paramount Pictures, in which an unconventional young priest is transferred to a struggling New York parish and must work alongside its traditional elder pastor while helping local youths form a choir. It was the highest-grossing picture of 1944 and won seven of its ten Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, and helped make its star Bing Crosby the era's leading box-office draw. Supporting actor Barry Fitzgerald was nominated for both Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor for the same role, a result that led the Academy to change its rules to prevent a recurrence.
