You Can't Take It with You

You Can't Take It with You is a 1938 American screwball comedy directed by Frank Capra, adapted by Robert Riskin from the Pulitzer Prize winning 1936 stage play by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart. It stars Jean Arthur, Lionel Barrymore, James Stewart and Edward Arnold in the story of a young woman from a family of wealthy snobs who becomes engaged to a man from an eccentric but good natured household. The film was a critical and commercial success and won two Academy Awards at the 11th ceremony, Best Picture and Best Director, the latter Capra's third directing Oscar in five years.
